Prepare CUBE and choose your space
Finish downloading the model and enter the space where you want to save your notes. Open Settings → Import from WhatsApp. You can also start at the end of initial setup, once the model is ready.
Export your WhatsApp self-chat
On iPhone, open the conversation with yourself, tap your name at the top and choose Export Chat. On Android, open that conversation and tap ⋮ → More → Export chat. Menu labels may vary between versions.
Choose with or without media
Without media brings your text and links in a smaller export. Include media adds the photos, audio, videos and documents WhatsApp includes. If you want to keep those attachments, include them in your first import.
Share with CUBE and return to the app
Select CUBE in your phone’s share menu. When you return, CUBE reads the file and shows a selection screen; no notes are saved yet. If you saved the export in Files, tap “I already have the export” and select the ZIP, or the TXT together with its attachments.
Choose what to import and confirm
Enable or disable text, photos, links, videos, audio and documents. All types are enabled initially. For text without files or links, the starting minimum is 3 words: change it, or enter 0 to include every text. Check how many messages will be imported or skipped, then tap Import. You confirm the selection once, without approving each message.
Filters keep each message together
The word minimum only affects text without files or links: a photo with a short caption or a link is not skipped because of that limit. If a message combines types, such as a photo and a link, both must be enabled. Type counts can include the same message.
Messages skipped by your filters can be brought in later by exporting the history again and changing your selection. Already saved messages will not be duplicated.
How imported notes are prepared
After confirmation, CUBE saves the selected messages and adds them to its queue. Text is kept in full without rewriting, saved as a note with a title taken from the message of up to 140 characters. The device detector identifies entities such as people or places. Imported notes use the original message day; dates in the text are not reinterpreted and no clarification questions are generated. Images, PDFs and links retain their content preparation.
Keep CUBE open while it processes. Leaving pauses processing; returning resumes pending work. A long history may take several sessions.
Saving an import does not mean processing has finished. The summary separates new messages, previously saved messages, messages skipped by your filters and messages from removed imports. Home and Notes show progress.
What happens to photos, PDFs and voice messages
Text and its attachment stay together in the same note. Saving a file and analysing its contents are two different things:
- An individual supported image or PDF enters the normal image or document processing flow.
- WhatsApp audio and video, other formats and messages with multiple attachments are preserved to open or share. Their contents are not yet transcribed or analysed; the accompanying message text is processed.
- If a file is missing from the export, CUBE keeps the message and reports the missing attachment.
Links keep their context
CUBE keeps your comment and the URL, and tries to retrieve the linked content over the Internet before processing it. Unavailable pages are identified; restricted pages retain only their public preview and source link. A URL is not treated as the full contents of the page.
Original dates and messages you already imported
Notes keep the date and time shown in the export. WhatsApp does not include timezone information in the TXT, so CUBE uses your phone’s timezone. If day/month order is ambiguous, it asks you once.
Importing the same history into the same space again skips messages already saved and keeps your edits. It does not add files to a note previously imported without media. Matching uses the dates and sender in the file: changing the sender’s name or trimming messages with the same timestamp can affect duplicate detection.
You can undo an import
In Settings → Import from WhatsApp → Manage imports, choose the batch and confirm its removal. This deletes the notes created by that batch, including pending notes and notes you edited or moved to another space you own. Your other notes and WhatsApp chat are kept.
Messages from a removed import are not added again when you share the same history. This differs from messages skipped by filters, which you can import later.
Questions about importing from WhatsApp
Can I import my WhatsApp notes without a computer?
Yes. You can export the chat and share it with CUBE from your phone, on both iPhone and Android. You do not need to sign in to WhatsApp inside CUBE.
Are new messages imported automatically too?
This feature imports the file you share. It does not maintain a sync with WhatsApp. To bring in later messages, export your chat again and share it with CUBE.
Why are messages or files missing?
First check the selected types and minimum word count: the summary separates messages skipped by your filters. WhatsApp may also limit what it includes in an export, especially with media. CUBE can only import what arrives in the file and reports missing attachments; it cannot recover content deleted from WhatsApp.
What if CUBE does not appear in the share menu?
Look for CUBE under More in the share menu. You can also save the export in Files and open it from Settings → Import from WhatsApp → I already have the export. Select the complete ZIP or the TXT together with its files.
Which export files does CUBE accept?
A WhatsApp ZIP or the original TXT together with its attachments. Do not edit the file before importing. CUBE accepts ZIPs up to 512 MB, text up to 20 MB and individual files up to 256 MB. You do not need to unzip the archive.
Is my conversation uploaded to a server for processing?
Note importing and processing happen on your device using the downloaded model. CUBE does not need to connect your WhatsApp account. Opening external links or locating places may require internet access and queries to the relevant services.
